"I'm repping the clique, that's beautiful noize" -Ming

Ming

Ming, born Ming Chun Louie on January 6, 1988, is a multi-faceted lyricist and exceptional songwriter born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From his ethnic and controversial name to his idealistic philosophies in both life and hip hop, Ming demonstrates diversity and self expression through wordplay and wisdom.

Ming, in Chinese culture, is translated as “bright” both in the sense of “illumination” as well as “enlightenment” synonymous of intelligence as an adjective. This appropriate name adequately describes him by nature and is evident in Ming’s persona in both social lives as well as on the microphone.

Throughout his adolescence, Ming realized that he had a way with words and enjoyed expressing himself through rhyming literature, more commonly known as poetry. Also, being a fan of hip hop since he first heard the genre, he adapted a sense of rhythm and influence from many lyricist and catchy tunes of various productions. To express his passion towards the Hip Hop culture, Ming attempted to free style occasionally as a hobby when his peers were near. As his peers began to listen to him more, Ming was advised to begin taking music seriously because of the talent that he possessed.

Ming took his peers advice and he started to consistently write in-depth rhymes to perfect his craft as an artist. Not too long after his attempts to apply his songwriting talents to different productions in late 2008, Ming came across Beautiful Noize Entertainment’s own Artis while showcasing his lyrical ability to a crowd at his local community college in Camden County, South Jersey. Artis and Ming conversed about Ming’s unique talent and had in-depth conversations about the current state of hip hop music. Ming’s talent was impressive and Artis could not pass on the opportunity to have Ming as the first artist aside from himself signed to BNE.

Immediately after Ming became a member of Beautiful Noize Entertainment, it was later comprised of other group members as Madison Kaine, JBrown, LazaJuan and Big Tone. This was important for Ming to see the growth of the label, but he always expressed a vision and belief that BNE would soon be one of the premier labels in the entertainment industry before it had achieved any success.

Ming’s style is very metaphorical, abstract and provides valid and strong concepts of meaning behind music compositions. He was heavily influenced by his environment as well as his particular taste in Philadelphia artists from the battle rap region. He holds influences from artists such as Cassidy, Reed Dollaz and Cyssero, while having his lyrical content and wording influenced by another lyricist as Lupe Fiasco.

Undoubtedly, influences have impacted Ming as an artist but he experiences frustrations at times because of the many comparisons to his influences as Cassidy. This causes him to respond to his audience stating, “Some people have a biased perception of me and fail to focus on the lyrical content I exhibit and more so pay attention to the sound of my delivery.” For this reason, Ming’s work ethic is maximized as he constantly proves to his audience his diversities as an emcee. Ming makes an extra effort to focus on not just flowing on beat, but re-inventing it so he can impress his entire audience instantly and have them appreciate the artist he is.

Ming has several features on his label mates’ projects, as he demonstrates his skills on Artis’ Raising The Bar mix tape: “The Truth ft. Madison Kaine,” “Poor Boy ft. Ming” and “All in Vain ft. Ming,” which is also his first official music video debut. He also has features on Big Tone’s Mic Theory mix tape, including “Bull Shitting ft. Artis, Ming and Madison Kaine” and “Movement ft. Artis, JBrown, Madison Kaine, Ming and Q.” His most recent feature is on Q’s Extended Play, “I’m Ready” as “Wet ft. Ming,” which he performed at his first concert alongside his label mates on April 7, 2011; “Black Student Union Presents Beautiful Noize Entertainment” at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ.

Ming’s journey in the hip hop industry is just beginning and he will continue to improve and work with a positive force like BNE to create great sounding music for many to enjoy and for the world to feel. Ming’s first solo release of his mix tape “A.M.O.W. — A Man of Words” released on April 5th, 2012 with the official A.M.O.W. mix tape trailer and includes several label mate features as “Student Of The Game ft.
