A.D., formerly known as “Big Tone” was born Anthony Dwayne Soil Jr. on September 2, 1990. He is a gifted lyricist and songwriter from Inglewood, California, currently resides in Van Nuys, CA and has remained a West Coast native emcee since he first picked up the microphone at age 11. To his family and close friends he is referred to as Tony, however, to his well-known audience across the world his name reins, A.D.
A.D.’s music depicts reality its purest form and is told solely from his point of view. He has a careless mentality when being judged for what he vocalizes on a song and would rather expose the truth than tell a lie. No one can doubt A.D.’s talent and the love that he shares for rapping. Simply listen to his music and it will instantly grab your attention.
His messages are heartfelt, clear, concise and straightforward. To A.D., rapping is not a hobby or something to pass the time, it is his life. He is a man of few words when spoken to, but when he speaks on the track he has much to say. Making songs allows A.D. to be as real as he can and it is his outlet to share his stories of his personal experiences. A.D. has been featured on “Artis —Real Recognize Real ft. Big Tone,” which was also his debut music video and “Artis —Beautiful Noize ft. Big Tone, Madison Kaine & JBrown.”
A.D. released his first solo mixtape, “Mic Theory” on September 28, 2010 along with his Mic Theory Promo Trailer on Youtube. His mix tape has received great reviews, the release of a newspaper article “Hip Hop Re-Birth Owns the Mic” by Perpetua Romain and many have stated, “It sounds like an album; this cannot possibly be a mix tape with the great music production and quality of content released.”
Several of A.D.’s tracks were performed alongside his label mates at his first live concert, “Black Student Union Presents Beautiful Noize Entertainment” on April 7, 2011 at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ. Tracks such as Movement and Perpetrators moved the crowd intensely as they chanted in unison with those performing on stage with A.D.
His most recent features can be heard on his label mates project “Ming – A Man Of Words” released on April 5th, 2012 including tracks as “Of The Sky ft. Artis, Stand Up (Get Em’ High) ft. Artis and High Raps ft. Artis.”
